Who wants Pizza ?? I know a lot of people love to eat pizza . I know in our house we love pizza but I don't like to order pizza unless I have to . Most of the time the pizza comes to greasy and then I don't like to eat it . With my children who love pizza I wanted to start to make pizza at home . One because I can control a lot of the ingredients that would go into the dough . With my son and the rest of my children too . This crust is so easy to make and you can add different things to a crust to make it better or the way you like your pizza crust to be . I use Bread flour in our pizza dough I use to use normal flour but I found out it will not give you the taste of the dough you find when you order a pizza . The bread dough gives the pizza more of an airy feel to the dough and more of a soft chew to the dough also .
Feel free to use what ever you have on hand . I know that most people don't have bread dough on hand all the time so normal flour will work just fine for this recipe . This dough will make 2 pizza's so for our house it is great cause with my 3 growing children we need both of the pizza's . I also love making homemade dough cause you can make it and if you need the dough a different day it will stay good in your fridge for couple of days or you can put it in the freezer and take it out when you need to and have it ready to go . It is also great cause the kids can do all the toppings and start to cook long with you .
Ingredients:
1 Teaspoon of dry active yeast 1 Teaspoon's of sugar ( see below in instructions ) 3/4 cups of a good olive oil 4 cups of either bread flour or normal flour
Instructions:
1). In a bowl you will want to take 1 1/2 cups of water and in this stage you will want to make sure the water is about 110 . Also make sure you don't make the water to cold or to hot . If you make the water to cold you will not get the yeast to rise if you make the yeast to hot you will kill the yeast and it will not rise either or what we call it is the proofing yeast . If your yeast after 5 mins don't do anything the yeast is bad and you will have to toss it and start over and get fresh yeast . Also in this stage you will want to add a teaspoon of sugar and mix it in with the yeast it will help to activate the yeast during the proofing stage
2). In a stand mixer you will want to add your dough hook or if you don't have a stand mixer you will want to get a different bowl and add your 4 cups of either bread flour or normal flour. to that you will want to add your 3/4 cup of olive oil and one teaspoon of salt. if you are using your stand mixer just turn it on low and mix the oil and the salt and flour together for about a min . Then take your yeast and add that slowly to the flour and then let that all combine .
3). I mix the dough until it is hardly all mixed together cause I like to Kneed the dough . If you don't like to Kneed your dough then you can leave it in the stand mixer and let it mix the dough you might need to add more flour to the mixture but I would only add a tablespoon at a time so you don't add to much at once . If you like to kneed the dough I kneed the dough for about 5 mins or so I do add about 4-5 tablespoons of flour you want the dough nice and soft and not sticking to your hands if their is a little bit of sticky to it is good but to much is not what we are going for here .
4). Once the dough is nice and Kneed and soft in a ball shape . You need to get a bowl and drizzle some olive oil at the bottom . Then take your dough and cover the dough in the oil in the bottom of the bowl . Then either take a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and cover the bowl . Then place the bowl on the counter in a nice warm spot . I like to put it on my oven you will want to let it sit for about 30mins to 1hr . When you come back the dough should have double in size .
6) . Once the dough has sat for either 30 mins to 1hr your dough should look like something like this . If your dough didn't double in size then you need to toss it and start over that means the yeast you used is bad . In this stage you will want to punch the dough down and pull it out from the bowl and put it on the counter . You either at this point want to cut the dough in half and take one half and roll it out to make your shape of your pizza . Once your shape is made your going to want to spray lightly what ever pan you are using .
7). Once you have your pizza ready to go into the oven I set the oven at 350 and set a timer for about 20 mins to start with then after 20 mins I check it if it is not ready I will add little bit more time like 5mins . Cook until how you like your pizza .
8). ENJOY!
